2013 Presidential Inauguration

Sorry for the delay, but better late than never. I’m extremely grateful that I was able to attend this historic event, in honor of President Obama’s 2nd term re-election. It must’ve been meant to be because I was able to come up on some last minute tickets from a friend at the gym (Eric Benson). I quickly called up my buddy (Lavel White) a cameraman/activist and asked if he wanted to help me capture this historic event with photos & video footage…His answer was an excited yes! We decided to rent a car and drive to Washington D.C. and really soak up all of the festivities. The drive was every bit of 10 hours, but we took turns driving and discussed plans for sucess in 2013. The excitement of exploring the Capitol and celebrating the Inauguration made everything well worth it.

The event was amazing and you could feel the excitement circulating throughout the cold D.C. air. There was well over one million people there to witness history and I must admit it was an extremely tight squeeze, but everyone seemed to be friendly & happy to be there. Kelly Clarkson and Beyonce performed, and President Obama’s speech was awesome…parts of it seemed written specifically for Mixed Nation. I’ll be the first to admit that politics in the United States need fixing sooner than later, but I also feel that President Obama has done an amazing job turning things around and is a great ambassador for unity, equality and righteousness. The 2013 Presidential Inauguration has truly inspired me and  the memories from this trip will last a lifetime. President Obama once said “Out of many, we are one.”, and I totally agree with him!

Everyone should be so fortunate to have a similar experience at least once in their lives.
