Being Yourself In A World That Is Trying To Make You Like Everyone Else

Swirl Girl Army has hooked up some Swirl-spiration tips on why being yourself is so important! Read on to see how you can be true to your bea-U-tiful self!

1. Define You.
If you catch yourself wondering “Does he/she like me?” or worried about what others might think, you risk losing a piece of yourself. Step 1: is always to *accept* you for you and love you for it. Step 2: is to give yourself a chance to get to know the real you. Ask yourself: What are your likes and dislikes? What are your goals and aspirations? What’s important to you? Whenever you are feeling self conscious always remember:

“Those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.” - Bernard Baruch

2. Stop comparing yourself to others.
My man’s mother says it beautifully: Avoid comparing the inside of your house to the outside of someone else’s. For starters, it puts your focus on the wrong person. Now is the time to focus on YOUR individual strengths by developing the special person YOU are. When comparing yourself to others, you give their image way too much power and reduce your own self worth, as a result. Why be a mediocre copy of someone else when you can be the shining starlet in your own life’s movie?

3. Follow your OWN style and Express Yo-self!
“Be a character, not a stereotype.” Wouldn’t we prefer standing out from the crowd, rather than blending into it? Maybe you eat pasta for breakfast or you say a word slightly differently from everyone else, whatever it is, be proud of it! The more proud and confident you are, the easier it is for others to love and appreciate you for YOU.

I LOVE this quote– “Avoid comparing the inside of your house to the outside of someone else’s”.  This is a very good read, thank you 🙂
