A video has surfaced of (a 15-year-old) Justin Bieber telling a racist joke with his friends, and he uses the N-word in the clip! This is obviously a PR nightmare for the 20 year old pop star and it adds to a growing list of trouble that he’s found himself in lately.
In the video, posted to TMZ.com, the pop star (5 years ago) asks: “Why are black people afraid of chain saws?”
He answers his own question: “Run n*****, n*****, n*****, n*****,” while imitating the sound of a chain saw, then he laughs.
This video is shocking to most because the majority of his industry friend’s are black…I know that sounds like the typical “My best friend’s black” racist excuse, but in this case it’s true.
Several of his African American celebrity friends have publicly stood up for him…including Floyd Mayweather!
Mayweather says he’s got his young buddy’s back, posting an image on Instagram to explain why.
The caption reads: “Justin has been nothing but kind to me, my daughters and sons over the years. We all make mistakes when we are young, it’s part of growing up. I am proud of what he’s doing as a 20 year old musician and business man. #TMT”
Here’s Justin’s Apology:
“As a young man, I didn’t understand the power of certain words and how they can hurt. I thought it was OK to repeat hurtful words and jokes, but didn’t realize at the time that it wasn’t funny and that in fact my actions were continuing the ignorance,” Bieber, now 20, said in a statement.
He added: “I take my friendships with people of all cultures very seriously and I apologize for offending or hurting anyone with my childish and inexcusable mistake. I was a kid then and I am a man now who knows my responsibility to the world and to not make that mistake again.”
After watching the video and reading Justin’s apology, I feel like it was just a young, dumb joke. Like the champ said, we all made mistakes when we were younger. Hopefully this embarrassing situation can be a wake up call for Justin to start making better decisions and use his fame & influence to help make the world a better place!
I accept his apology…do you?
