All of the Above

Contradictions curiously click together like puzzle pieces…

Your strengths assist my weaknesses and vice versa, my strengths assist yours…

Childhood trauma meets childhood trauma, sitting together, staring at the mountains of scar tissue to sift through, and cautiously, our fingers tip-toe, tip-toe towards each other to nervously hold hands…

We strap our feet in steel-toed boots of protection and slow-motion struggle through the syrupy thick quicksand of consequences…

With machetes in one hand, we break down the barriers we built in order to survive but that no longer serve us…

And with seeds grasped tightly in the other hand, we nurture the fertile soil for our dreams to blossom into reality…

Swallowing the bittersweet pill that this journey towards balanced, sustainable living and healthy, respectful loving is never-ending, always-shifting, both agony & ecstasy…

Requiring serenity, courage, wisdom, patience, compromise, and so much more than all of the above…

All of the above is what lives in my heart, soul and mind- oldies, rock, pop, and hip-hop reflecting back different parts of myself…

All of the above is what I  hope you understand…

All of the above is what I want to give to you, to myself, and to the universe…
